Job Description

Summary of The Role

The Head of Software Engineering to join our technology team and help drive our digital transformation. You will be instrumental in developing and maintaining our enterprise healthcare platform that supports our extensive network of medical professionals and serves thousands of patients across the UK.

Role Responsibilities

Develop and maintain 120+ system components including admin applications, allocator systems, and integrations.
Design and implement database structures using PostgreSQL.
Contribute to system architecture decisions and technical documentation.
Work with complex booking systems and healthcare-related APIs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Participate in code reviews and maintain coding standards.
Support and enhance existing healthcare platform components.
Help integrate our e-prescription service with 3,500+ pharmacies.
Support our telemedicine platform development.

Requirements

Non-Negotiable Skills for Screening:

English language skills at CEFR C1 or above
Experience in implementing algorithms to solve complex business use cases like multi constraint optimization, recommendations etc.
Have managed other developers and led mid to large teams in building enterprise software.

Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience

10+ years of experience as Tech Lead / Head of Software Engineering
6+ years of custom development experience
Deep knowledge of Java Core and Java Enterprise
Expert-level proficiency in Spring Framework
Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming principles
Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL and database optimization
Proficiency with Git, Gradle, and TeamCity
Experience with system design and API integrations
Basic algorithmic skills for resource allocation systems

Additional Requirements

Experience with or willingness to learn Cuba Platform
Understanding of RESTful API design and implementation
Knowledge of healthcare systems is a plus
Experience with microservices architecture
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
